Kids Bedroom Paint Ideas...

The easy way to SPICE up a kids bedroom.

Need some help with kids bedroom paint ideas?

Are you a Little "color blind"?

Not to worry, it is not as hard as it seems.

Painting a bedroom can seem like a huge task.

What color should I go with?

What type of paint should I use?

What tools do I need?

Can I do this my self?

Am I crazy for doing this my self? LOL

It really is not that hard, and the impact on the room can be huge. It is the easiest way to make a real difference in a bedroom. Just watch some of those "before" and "after" shows. Do they ever leave the walls the same color? Follow the guru's, and you become a guru too.

Maybe you need more than just some kids bedroom paint ideas! Maybe you need some real help.

First, keep this in mind, you can do it! The good thing about paint is you can always paint over it. (It is more work, but hey it can be done.) So don't sweat it, if you mess up, it can be fixed. My kids helped me paint our new house.

Handy Paint , Ideas,Tips and Tricks.

  • Go to your local Hardware store. The color chips, and brochers there have tons of great ideas, tips, and color schems. All at the right price--Free. Often they have bedroom brochers with great kids bedroom paint ideas. If you are on a budget this can save you some money. Usually the workers ther are glad to give you some direction.

  • One of my favorite color selection tool's is at shewin-williams website. You can actually see the color applied to a bedroom in 3-D. It is really a great way to visualize a room, especally if you are not a visual person. Click here to use the Sherwin-Williams Visualizer. It will take a few seconds to load, but it is worth it. Click on the "bedroom" button and have fun. This is a great way to exeriment. Go wild, and be brave. You will be suprised at what you an come up with. You can play with all types of color without opening a can of paint. This is the way to play with paint!

(I love to play with this tool, but I may a too much time on my hands since I started this work at home website.) lol

  • Another great kids bedroom paint idea is to create an accent wall. Paint only one wall (most of the time the wall the bed is up against) a bedroom theme color. For example, you could paint a wall light pink for a pricess or fairy theme, or sky blue for an airplane theme room. This cuts down on work and cost.

  • A good idea for the not so paint savey is to paint half the room and use a boarder. You don't have to trim by the celing. Just measure up about 38" high and mark a line. Paint up to the line and cover with a theme based boarder.

  • Once you have picked your color, buy a pint. Paint a 4' x 4' place on the wall to be painted. Allow to dry. Then look at the color. What looked like warm tan on the brochure, may look melted chocolate on the walls. I is better to dicover you hate it early, and not after you have painted the whole wall (or worse the whole room).

  • Use drop cloths. You will drip. Keep wet rags close by, you never know when you will need to wipe up a drip.

  • I have found a great painting website that has a lot of information on helping you choose a color that is right for your room. It also has a lot of other great painting ideas.

  • I have also found a great resource that really shows you how to apply the faux finish technique to your kids bedroom. It gives you step by step instructions!

  • **Most importantlly don't be afraid to experiment. Paint won't eat you!

  • Stencils add Style

Stencils are a great way to bust up the monotony of a room. You can add a name to the wall, add some cool clouds, flowers, or whatever your theme.

When you think of kids bedroom paint ideas, you automatically think paining the walls. Stencils can take it to a whole new level. They are easy to use and not very expensive. The great thing about stencils is they can be reused and reused. If you mess up just paint over it! LOL
